BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., founded in April 1993, is an IoT company providing intelligent interface products and professional services for information interaction and human health. BOE’s three core businesses are Display and Sensor Devices, Smart Systems and Healthcare Services. BOE’s display and sensor products are widely used in a broad spectrum of applications such as mobile phone, tablet, notebook, monitor, TV, vehicle display, digital information display, healthcare, finance, and wearable devices. Smart systems provide IoT integrated solutions for various industries such as new retail, transportation, finance, education, art, etc. Healthcare services combine medicine and life science, and is committed to developing mobile healthcare, digital hospitals, regenerative medicine and integrating BOE healthcare park resources.
In 2017, BOE’s yearly new-patent applications amounted to 8678, 85% of which are invention patents. In total, BOE has over 60,000 usable patents, ranking among the top of the industry. Data from IFI Claims also shows that BOE has ranked from the 40th among the Top 50 USPTO Patent Assignees in 2016 to the 21st in 2017, with its annual growth rate ranking the first among Top 50 for two consecutive years. According to the 2017 International PCT Applications of WIPO, BOE ranked No.7 with 1,818 applications.
BOE is the forerunner and leader of mainland China’s semiconductor display industry. Since 2003, BOE has successively put into construction the mainland China’s first Gen 5 TFT-LCD production line in Beijing, the first Gen 6 TFT-LCD production line in Heifei and the first Gen 8.5 production line in Beijing, putting an end to an era when no Chinese enterprises could manufacture LCD panels on their own and large size of LCD panels can’t be manufactured in mainland China, thus truly realized China’s localization of the full range of LCD panels. In 2017, China’s first as well as the world’s second Gen 6 flexible AMOLED production line constructed by BOE put into mass production, opening up a new era of flexible display. In December, the world’s highest of its kind— BOE Hefei Gen 10.5 TFT-LCD production line put into production, becoming a new milestone of the development of global display industry and marking China’s leading position in the global display industry.
BOE has manufacturing bases located in Beijing, Chongqing, Hefei of Anhui Province, Chengdu and Mianyang of Sichuan Province, Fuzhou and Xiamen of Fujian Province, Suzhou of Jiangsu Province, Ordos of Inner Mongolia, Gu’an of Hebei Province, etc. Besides, BOE also boasts a global marketing and R&D centers in 19 countries and regions like the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Russia, Brazil and The United Arab Emirates, with its service networks covering the world's major areas such as Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
In 2017, BOE’s operating revenue reached ¥93.8b, a year-on-year increase of 36.15%, and brought ¥7.57b of net profits for shareholders, an increase of over 3 times of the same period last year.
Data from IHS Claims shows that, BOE's global market share of TFT-LCD panels ranked number 1 for mobile phone, tablet, notebook, monitor and TV in 2018 Q1.
In 2017 BOE marketing office was opened in Russia.
